Montana born, Tennessee raised,
Meghan currently lives in New Rochelle, NY where
she is the Gym Director of
The Rock Club,
the newest and largest indoor rock climbing gym
in the North East.
While rock climbing is her
passion and something she’s dedicated herself
to, Meghan has been involved in
competitive sports since grade school where she
was a rising soccer star. She has won many
athletic and academic awards and played Division I soccer at
Fordham University in the Bronx where she
majored in Chemistry and graduated with honors.
Meghan was first introduced to
rock climbing at age 14 and hasn’t looked back.
In the summer of 2006 she traveled around the
U.S. to sport climb and boulder in over 20
states. The trip was sponsored by companies
including Urban Climber Magazine, Madrock,
Trango, and prAna. An article she wrote about the trip was
featured in the Nov/Dec 2006 edition of Urban
Climber Magazine and a website dedicated to the
trip is online at
www.SendTheStates.com.
As the Gym Director of The Rock
Club, Meghan brings the experience of over 10
years of working in the climbing industry at
gyms in New York, NY, Nashville, TN, and
Stamford, CT. As the Director of Programming at
TRC, Meghan has developed The Rock Club’s hugely
successful after school programming that is
helping to bring the next generation of
climbers into the sport. Additionally, she
has co-created a women’s group at TRC and is
developing special programming to help more
women break into climbing in a fun, supportive
environment.
Meghan is also a head coach of
Team Rock, TRC’s competitive climbing team,
and takes great pride in the work she does with
kids of all levels and abilities. Team Rock had
huge success in its first year with all of its
members being invited to the Regional
Championships and three climbers representing at
the National Championships. Of all her
endeavors, this may be her favorite as she gets
to combine her passion for climbing, her talent
of working with kids and her desire to teach.
As well as climbing, Meghan also
loves playing Frisbee and enjoys most activities
that involve being outdoors. She is hoping to
run in a marathon in the not too distant future!
Outside of climbing Meghan has
always been involved in community work including
participating in five international service
trips to Belize and India- two of which she
organized and led through Global Outreach, a
community outreach program at Fordham
University. She is proud to be able to bring
that aspect of her life to her job by working
with kids with disabilities and organizing
to bring disadvantaged youth to the gym to experience the
thrill of climbing. She's continually
amazed at how empowering climbing can be and how
it can be such a great tool to build
self-esteem, trust, and responsibility.
Going forward, Meghan hopes to continually expand these programs.
Meghan is also the co-founder of
alt9 Productions – a company that produced
videos for two of the premier bouldering
competitions in the nation put on by
NE2C: the Mammut-EMS Bouldering
Championships in 2006 and 2007 and the ASCI
Showdown in 2007 (that hosted 30 of the best
climbers in North America!).
You
can see the videos
here.
Meghan’s aim for the future is to
do her part to bring climbing to an even larger
audience and to develop programs that help
people of all ages and abilities reach their
goals through their participation in the sport.
While she still enjoys and excels at climbing
competitively herself, her energy is currently geared
toward the success of
Team Rock. Go TEAM!
